Mumbai, October 25, 2025 — Marking a historic milestone, legendary filmmaker Subhash Ghai announced the launch of SGM Animation and Gaming Studio, a groundbreaking new venture under Mukta Arts, as the company celebrates its 47th anniversary and the 20th year of its renowned film school, Whistling Woods International (WWI).

A Visionary Leap into the Future

The SGM Animation and Gaming Studio represents Mukta Arts’ bold entry into the realms of animation and gaming, blending cutting-edge technology with India’s rich storytelling traditions. The studio aims to produce immersive and innovative animation and gaming content, expanding the legacy of Mukta Arts, which boasts 44 blockbuster films and over 500 short films—a treasure trove of intellectual properties (IPs) ready to be reimagined for new generations.

Subhash Ghai’s Creative Journey

Reflecting on his cinematic legacy, Subhash Ghai shared,

“I started telling stories on the big screen in 1975 with Kalicharan, and musical storytelling with Karz in 1978. Since then, we’ve created many blockbusters and pioneered audio-video studio culture with Taal in 2000. Later, I established Whistling Woods International to nurture new talent — and we’ve trained over 3,000 students so far.”

He continued,

“Now, I see a great future for Indian storytelling through animation and gaming. We’ve done extensive research, and SGM will bring fresh stories from Mukta’s archive to both small and big screens. My heartfelt thanks to Rahul Puri and Chaitanya Chichlikara for their visionary support in this venture.”

Empowering the Next Generation

The studio will harness the expertise of over 300 skilled animation graduates, many from WWI, combining traditional artistry with next-generation digital innovation. This synergy will position SGM as a creative powerhouse capable of producing world-class animated and gaming content for Indian and global audiences alike.

Redefining Indian Animation

With the launch of SGM Animation and Gaming Studio, Mukta Arts reinforces its commitment to innovation, education, and excellence in storytelling. This new chapter not only celebrates decades of cinematic heritage but also signals a transformative step toward the future of entertainment in India — where imagination meets technology.
