Dr. Muhammed Hasim has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from IMSR for his research titled “Managing healthcare workforce burnout and retention post-covid-19: A strategic leadership approach”. The thesis examines how strategic leadership can reduce healthcare workforce burnout and improve employee retention in the post-COVID-19 era. Using theoretical models and quantitative analysis, it shows that effective leadership lowers emotional exhaustion and enhances commitment. It proposes the SLBR framework as a sustainable, leadership-driven approach to workforce wellbeing and organizational stability.
Muhammed Hasim is a distinguished healthcare operations leader with over 15 years of experience across key Middle Eastern markets, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. Widely recognized for his ability to transform underperforming healthcare institutions into sustainable and high-performing systems, Hasim has consistently delivered measurable improvements in operational efficiency, patient experience, and financial performance through structured, process-driven strategies.
With specialized expertise in healthcare management, Hasim brings a strong combination of operational discipline and strategic execution to the healthcare sector. His leadership approach focuses on integrating clinical services, administrative processes, and revenue cycle management into cohesive and scalable systems that support long-term sustainability.
Hasim began his healthcare journey in Saudi Arabia as part of Abeer Medical Group, where he played a pivotal role in the operational transformation of multiple healthcare units in the Makkah region. During this period, he was actively involved in restructuring facilities that required both operational stabilization and financial turnaround. His work focused on process optimization, workforce alignment, and strengthening of revenue cycle systems, enabling these institutions to transition into sustainable business models.
One of his most notable contributions in Saudi Arabia was his involvement in the turnaround of Saudi National Hospital managed by Abeer Group. At a critical stage in the hospital’s performance, Hasim was among the key initiators who led structured interventions to improve operational discipline and system reliability. By implementing process standardization, improving coordination across departments, and enhancing accountability frameworks, he contributed to establishing a stable and scalable operational foundation.
In 2024, Hasim expanded his regional footprint by associating with Naseem Healthcare in Qatar, where he led one of the organization’s flagship projects during its early development phase. Entrusted with building the operational framework from the ground up, he successfully guided the project from planning to execution and full-scale operations. Within just two months of launch, the facility achieved a daily patient footfall exceeding 200, reflecting the strength of the systems and processes implemented under his leadership.
In Oman, Hasim has continued to demonstrate his expertise in healthcare transformation through disciplined and structured turnaround strategies. As Director of Abeer Hospital Oman, he has led key strategic initiatives that significantly strengthened operational performance and system integration.
A major milestone under his leadership was the successful integration of the Dhamani platform, aligning hospital operations with the national insurance regulatory authority in close coordination with IT teams. This initiative streamlined insurance workflows, improved compliance, and enhanced efficiency in claims processing.
As a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from KPMG, Muhammed Hasim has led multiple high-impact process improvement initiatives across healthcare organizations. His expertise in Lean methodologies has enabled him to identify inefficiencies, eliminate process waste, and improve system performance, particularly in revenue cycle and insurance operations. A key aspect of his leadership lies in his ability to balance operational efficiency with patient-centered care. He strongly believes that sustainable healthcare systems are built not only on clinical excellence but also on reliable processes, clear communication, and data-driven decision-making. His transformation strategies consistently focus on reducing variation, improving turnaround times, and enhancing the overall patient journey.
Beyond his operational leadership roles, Hasim is an active healthcare consultant, supporting hospitals in enhancing operational efficiency and developing sustainable business models. His consulting approach emphasizes practical implementation, ensuring alignment between strategy and execution with measurable outcomes.
In addition to his consulting work, Hasim is a recognized trainer and speaker in healthcare operations and quality management. He conducts workshops and training sessions for healthcare professionals on process discipline, patient flow optimization, leadership in healthcare systems, and continuous improvement methodologies, with a strong focus on real-world application.
Further extending his contribution to the healthcare ecosystem, Hasim is the Co-Founder and Director of IHRH Academy, an initiative focused on developing healthcare support professionals. The academy specializes in training Medical Virtual Assistants (VA), equipping them with the skills required to support modern healthcare operations. Through this initiative, he aims to bridge workforce gaps and create new career opportunities in the healthcare sector.
