Delivering Safely: Swiggy Partners with Gurugram Traffic Police for Road Safety and Traffic Awareness Workshop

Gurgaon, April 3, 2024 – Swiggy, India’s foremost on-demand convenience platform, has collaborated with the Gurugram Traffic Police to organize a road safety and traffic awareness workshop for its delivery partners in Gurugram, as part of its Delivering Safely charter.

The event, graced by the presence of SH Virendra Vij, IPS Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, aimed to educate and empower over 100 delivery partners in the NCR region on road safety and accident prevention measures. SH Sukhbir Singh, HPS-ACP Traffic Police, and ASI Rajesh provided training on traffic rules, helmet usage, case studies, reckless driving consequences, and parking etiquette.

Following this, a helmet distribution session and a lively roadshow by Swiggy’s delivery partner fleet showcased Swiggy’s dedication to fostering responsible driving practices.

“Averting road accidents and their grave outcomes is pivotal for India. Annually, these incidents cost the Indian economy 4-5 per cent of the GDP. Sadly, a significant proportion of victims are pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists, many of whom are in their prime working age. Under the Delivering Safely charter, Swiggy is steadfast in ensuring the well-being of its delivery partners by regularly conducting road safety awareness initiatives in collaboration with law enforcement authorities. We aspire to enhance traffic awareness among delivery partners and bolster their safety,” stated a Swiggy spokesperson.

Over the years, Swiggy has undertaken similar campaigns across various Indian cities, underscoring its commitment to providing a secure working environment for its delivery fleet. All Swiggy delivery partners are covered by insurance for protection on the road.

In a pioneering move last year, Swiggy partnered with Dial 4242 to offer on-demand, free, and swift ambulance services to its delivery partners. Additionally, Swiggy provides Emergency Support Services (ESS) to cater to the needs of delivery partners during emergencies or road mishaps. ESS includes 24*7 hotline numbers, emergency cards, and a direct link to local police and ambulance services via an SOS button on the delivery partner app.

For Swiggy, the safety and welfare of its delivery partners and the broader community are paramount. All delivery partners undergo road safety guidance during onboarding, and the platform conducts safety campaigns throughout the year to offer support and guidance.
